100+ Women Who Care Regina is a group of empowered women from Regina and surrounding areas who gather together four times per year for one hour. Three charities pitch their cause to the membership. After a vote by the membership, a charity is chosen and each member writes a cheque to that charity for $100. With over 100 women banding together, we can raise more than $10,000 for a local charity in our community in a single meeting.

Our mission is to bring dynamic women from Regina and surrounding area together to donate $100 each to make an immediate impact in our community.

How We Started

Back in 2015, Sharlene Arklie (chapter founder) approached Jan Forrest, Carol Bachynski, and Kathy Wilson with a simple yet brilliant idea she had come across: gather 100 women in one place for one hour four times a year, with a $100 donation to hear about charities that need funding. An idea, sparked by founder Karen Dunnigan in the States, Sharlene thought that there was a massive need in our city that women could fill if we could develop a chapter here.

The committee pulled together to form a community-driven network of women who wanted to financially support those in need. It gave non-profits a platform to reach a broad audience, a rare opportunity for small charities. Awareness and exposure is so valuable, and so is a $10,000 donation.

How We’re Doing

Fast forward to the resent, and this group has doubled in size and helped all types of local charities that stand for inclusion and diversity, contributing $611,000 in donations in ten years. Through the hard work of this committee (past and present) for all of these years, we have heard from groups that tackle hunger, homelessness, grief, addiction, mental health, Indigenous cultural support, disability inclusion, early childcare, and senior support.

Steering Committee

The Steering Committee for 100+ Women Who Care Regina was founded in December 2015 by Sharlene Arklie. Now the crew consists of Jan Forrest, Kathy Wilson, and Carol Bachynski and Jessica Dunn, four dedicated women who have all served the community in many ways over the years. They know first-hand how much work is involved in fundraising, and while it is a lot of fun, each hour spent on fundraising is an hour not devoted to delivering programs.

They believe that bringing together dedicated women in Regina and surrounding areas it will be another way to not only help local charities financially but will also place the spotlight on the wonderful charities that work tirelessly to help make our community a better place for us all!
